OUR WORK
Roots of Development is a DC-based nonprofit organization that was founded in 2007. We’re working to shift the aid system in Haiti toward a locally led model by strengthening a national network of Haitian-led, community-powered organizations and driving international support for change through research and advocacy. We have two key partner organizations—Rasin Devlopman and Gwoup Konbit—that serve as our entry points to a broader ecosystem of over 500 groups and associations across all ten departments of Haiti.

CONVENINGS & COLLECTIVE ACTION

Advocacy for System Change
We work with global actors to push for an aid system that prioritizes local leadership.
We work in three spheres of influence
The Haiti Local and National Sphere, where we support our partners and help grow and strengthen the local network.
The Haiti-Engaged Sphere, where we connect and coordinate among international organizations and funders that operate within Haiti and advocate for Haitian voices to be present in decision making.
The Global Sphere, where we bring lessons learned from Haiti and push for change in the global aid system.
