October 28th, 2025
Dear Friend,
2025 saw increased violence and insecurity in Haiti, the collapse of the US Agency for International Development, and unprecedented withdrawals from aid commitments around the world.
And yet, Roots, with your support, has facilitated, supported, and participated in unprecedented acts of collective action. We have brought together new networks, expanded our work across Haiti, connected with new allies, and pushed for collaboration, at a time and in an industry where actors regularly choose to go it alone.
That’s because Roots is not just a funder. We are an engine behind collective action—collective action that has the power to change a nation’s trajectory and improve quality of life for millions.
It is that collective action and impact that we celebrated on October 16th in Washington, DC, and, in that spirit, honored:
- Fondation ESPWA, an impactful Haitian network of networks.
- The Network of Engaged International Donors, an ecosystem of resources and connections for funders of international aid.
- And Peace Direct, a global peacebuilding organization and leading advocate for locally led aid.
We’re so grateful for everyone who attended the event and contributed through donations, metal art purchases, and our silent auction. Thanks to a generous donation by former board member Ernest Voyard and his wife Tanya, all donations the night of the event were MATCHED!
If you weren’t able to join us this year, or if you weren’t able to otherwise contribute—please, make your donation toward Roots of Development today to help us make this event an even bigger success.
