About the Fund

Haiti has been in a state of continuous crisis for nearly four years. More than one million people have been displaced from their homes, and 5,600 people were killed in 2024 alone. Our partners in Haiti are living through the worst of circumstances, witnessing and navigating unspeakable horror every day. At the same time, they are still driving forward incredible impact in communities and building a national movement of Konbit-powered community development.
As our partners work to improve the lives of others, they often neglect to take care of themselves–both as organizations and as individuals. It is far too easy to dedicate every second and every penny to projects while neglecting the people and systems that make those projects successful. This is not sustainable, especially during a crisis as severe as the one facing Haiti today.
In light of this, Roots of Development has started the Heart & Soul Fund, dedicated to supporting the wellbeing of our partner organizations and their staff. This fund is inspired by Keep the Spark Alive, a similar initiative hosted by the Imago Dei Fund.
