Take a look at our favorite moments of 2022 – December 2022

Dear Friend,

2022 is rapidly coming to a close. Despite the challenges in Haiti, this year has been Roots’ and Rasin’s most successful yet. Through the end of the month, we’ll be sharing some of our favorite moments from this year. Take a look!

On July 7th, a fourth cohort of women completed their motorcycle training with Rasin Devlopman. These motorcycle classes help women control their own transportation, create new economic opportunities for themselves, and play a larger role in community development. Almost 50 women were reached through this program in 2022

In early August, Roots’ Executive Director Chad Bissonnette was able to visit Haiti and the Rasin staff on La Gonave. During this visit, they visited project sites, attended community meetings, and worked together to develop the internal capacities of Rasin Devlopman.

On August 3rd, Rasin Devlopman and CAPEELAG (another organization local to La Gonave), gathered together more than 70 community leaders and elected officials to discuss the contents of the island’s first Communal Development Plan and the next steps to support the plan’s implementation.

On September 16th, Rasin Devlopman hosted a session of its new program, Ankadre. Through Ankadre, 20 young teenagers from 5 different localities of Anse-à-Galets benefited from 3 months of training on a manual trade and engaged in sessions on social entrepreneurship and civic education

On October 9th, Roots, along with 100 other organizations, helped to organize a protest in Washington, DC, advocating for Haitian solutions to the current crisis in Haiti. Around 200 people attended, and the demonstration was covered by several major news outlets.

Your support made these accomplishments possible. Stay tuned through December for more of our favorite moments!

Happy Holidays from the entire Roots family!

Chad Bissonnette
Executive Director
