Job Summary: As the Research, Learning, and Advocacy Manager of Roots of Development, you will be responsible for leading policy analysis and research initiatives that help us make the case for community-led development in Haiti and around the world. The role involves conducting in-depth research, analyzing data, developing reports and tools, and supporting advocacy initiatives. The Research, Learning, and Advocacy Manager will work closely with staff, program partners, and external stakeholders to influence policy and improve aid effectiveness. The position offers a unique opportunity to support a community-led approach to international development, impact thousands of lives, and inspire a broader global movement toward development without dependency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and Analysis:
Conduct comprehensive research on current international aid practices in Haiti, identifying key issues, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
Analyze data from various sources, including government reports, NGO publications, academic articles, and field studies.
Monitor and analyze emerging trends, policy changes, and legislative developments relevant to international aid, community-led development, and practices affecting Haiti
Summarize research findings in accessible formats for different audiences, including partner organizations, donors, policymakers, and the general public. - Data Collection and Management:
Collect qualitative and quantitative data on community-led development efforts through interviews, surveys, and ongoing communications with partners.
Prepare detailed reports, policy briefs, and position papers that articulate our stance and approach, highlight positive examples, and provide recommendations.
Maintain a database of relevant research findings, policy documents, and case studies. - Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with local and international NGOs, government agencies, and other stakeholders to gather insights and build partnerships.
Organize and participate in meetings, workshops, and conferences to collect information, present research findings, distribute materials, and advocate for change. - Advocacy Support:
Assist in developing an advocacy roadmap and implementing advocacy campaigns and strategies aimed at improving international aid effectiveness in Haiti and beyond.
Prepare advocacy materials, including presentations, fact sheets, and social media content. - Program Support and Strategic Planning:
Collaborate with program partners to strengthen data collection and support the integration of research findings into program design and implementation.
Contribute to the development and implementation of Roots of Development’s strategic plan, particularly in areas related to policy and research.
Assist with grant writing and reporting to secure funding for further research and advocacy activities.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in International Development, Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or a related field or a Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of experience in policy analysis, research, and advocacy, preferably within the international aid or development sector.
Strong understanding of the international aid landscape and community-led development principles and practices.
Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills.
Proven ability to engage and influence policymakers and stakeholders at various levels.
Experience in managing research projects and teams.
Proficiency in data analysis software and tools.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Willingness to travel internationally as required.
English is the only language requirement. Proficiency in Haitian Creole and/or French is a plus.
