OUR ANNUAL
DC EVENT
Every year, diverse and influential guests gather in support of Development without Dependency. A long-time fixture of DC, Roots of Development’s annual fundraising event brings together leaders in the business, political, and non-profit spheres to show their solidarity with the fight against poverty.
In 2023, more than 125 people enjoyed a night of food, wine, and music, at the beautiful District Winery in Washington, DC. Special guests included Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus McCormick, Dr. Robert Fatton, and DC City Councilmember Robert White.

Dress attire is cocktail or business formal. Public parking is available directly beside District Winery on the corner of 4th and Water St in The Yards Lot Q gated parking for $2-$3 per hour.

VIP ticket holders will have the chance to meet and speak with our special guests more intimately, while enjoying views of the waterfront, live music, an exclusive spread of charcuterie, and delicious wine. VIP guests also get an exclusive gift bag!
The VIP reception is a great way to begin the evening, speak with our special guests, enjoy great food and drink, and support our work with a generous, tax deductible donation.

This year’s event will celebrate 17 years’ worth of Development without Dependency® in Haiti. In addition to supporting our work, your ticket includes food and drink for the event, as well as live entertainment. We have several surprises for the night of the event, including activities and special guests!
THE VENUE: DISTRICT WINERY
District Winery is Washington, D.C.’s first-ever fully-functional winery, located in the neighborhood of Navy Yard in the Capitol Riverfront community. With its award-winning wine and gorgeous views of the Anacostia River from its Rooftop Terrace, we are excited to be back at this venue this year.
