Job Summary: As the Operations and Finance Manager of Roots of Development you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and operational efficiency of our dynamic nonprofit organization. Reporting to the President of the organization, you will lead financial strategies, optimize operational processes, support grant and
donor management, and provide effective team leadership. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a community-led approach to international development, impact thousands of lives, and inspire a broader global movement toward development without dependency.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Management:
Manage all financial operations, including bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Prepare and analyze financial reports and statements for the board of directors and executive team.
Develop, update, and enforce financial policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
Coordinate annual audits and tax filings to uphold financial transparency.

2. Budgeting and Forecasting:
Lead and oversee the annual budgeting process in collaboration with executive leadership and program partners.
Monitor budget variances, providing insightful financial analysis and strategic recommendations.
Develop and maintain long-term financial forecasts to support organizational strategic planning initiatives.

3. Grant & Donor Management:
Ensure compliance with grant requirements and facilitate timely reporting.
Maintain organized and transparent grant-related financial records and reporting systems.
Produce invoices and/or receipts for donors.
Maintain and optimize donor management and donation processing software, including DonorScape, Double the
Donation, and Click & Pledge.

4. Operations:
Provide crucial support for day-to-day operations, ensuring a well-organized and efficient virtual work environment.
Organize and enhance online storage databases and contact management software for streamlined operations.
Effectively manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts for goods and services, and ensure cost-effectiveness.
Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance overall efficiency.

5. Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure careful compliance with all applicable laws and regulations governing financial and operational aspects.
Proactively identify and mitigate financial and operational risks to safeguard organizational interests.
Oversee insurance coverage and claims to mitigate potential liabilities and protect organizational assets.

6. Team Leadership:
Collaborate with program partners to enhance operational practices and strengthen financial management tools.
Foster a collaborative and productive work environment through effective leadership and communication.

Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, finance, accounting, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
– Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit finance and operations.
– Strong understanding of financial management principles, nonprofit accounting, and compliance.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and QuickBooks.
– Experience working with Salesforce, DonorScape, and/or WordPress, is a plus.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
– Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
– Experience with nonprofit sector regulations and standards is a plus.
– English is the only language requirement.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate with experience and employment agreement type. We invite all types of
